From November 25 to 26, 2025, the 4th GAPS Conference took place in Dresden, organized by the Chair of Combustion Engineering and Drive Technology.

From innovative scientific approaches and practical experience reports to visionary future prospects, the 4th GAPS Conference provided a platform for a wide range of perspectives and lively dialogue on sustainable propulsion systems in aviation. This year's presentations and discussions focused in particular on energy supply, green fuels, hydrogen propulsion, and measurement technology.

GAPS Conference

The GAPS Conference (General Aviation Propulsion Systems) focuses on propulsion systems for general aviation and brings together representatives from research, industry, and certification bodies, including propulsion system manufacturers, component suppliers, aircraft manufacturers, engineering service providers, and representatives from certification and regulatory authorities.

The focus is on how propulsion systems for general aviation can be made more sustainable in the future in light of the energy transition and increased environmental requirements. Topics range from new engines and propulsion concepts to the use of conventional and renewable fuels, emission reduction and system integration, innovative control and diagnostic procedures, and methods of numerical and experimental system development.

With presentations, discussions, and an accompanying trade exhibition, the GAPS conference provides a framework for intensive professional exchange and promotes dialogue between science, technology, and practice with the aim of advancing sustainable, efficient, and future-oriented propulsion systems for general aviation. In an atmosphere of open exchange and constructive discussion, participants were able to gain numerous new insights.

The organizing team would like to express its sincere thanks to all speakers and dedicated participants and is already looking forward to the next edition of the 5th GAPS Conference in 2026.
