This year's Faculty Day offered a varied program for faculty members, faculty associates, and last year's graduates.

The ceremony to bid farewell to this year's graduates from the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences took place in the afternoon of the Faculty's Day. 

It was opened by the dean, Prof. Regine Gerike. She congratulated the graduates on behalf of the faculty community on their achievements and pointed out the high level of social responsibility that the young scientists will fulfill in their future professional activities.

As a shaper of the mobility transition, you will plan, develop, and create the transportation systems of the future. Your degree will enable you to work across departments in multidisciplinary project teams to find solutions to the challenges of the mobility transition.

Prof. Markus Oeser, President of the Federal Highway and Transport Research Institute (BASt), together with Marie Kühn and Markus Schumacher, gave a keynote speech entitled “How safe is road traffic?”.

We are delighted to welcome Prof. Binbin Liu as Head of the Chair of Rail Vehicles and Prof. Corinna Salander as Honorary Professor of Railway Systems Engineering to the faculty on November 1, 2025. The newly appointed professors were warmly welcomed during the ceremony.

In addition to the presentation of the teaching award by the student council, the winners of research awards were also honored during the ceremony. Last year's award winners included:

In the 2024/25 academic year, the faculty bid farewell to 125 graduates and 20 doctoral candidates. After the doctoral candidates had been honored, Tano Kannegiesser, a graduate of the master's program in Transportation Economics, gave the graduates' farewell speech. This was followed by the presentation of certificates and flowers for the ceremonial farewell. 

The following degrees were awarded in the 2024/25 academic year:

  • 47 Diploma in Transport Engineering
  • 14 Master's in Railway Systems Engineering
  • 10 Master's in Electrical Transport Systems
  • 14 Master's in Aviation and Logistics
  • 21 Bachelor of Transport Economics
  • 3 Master Transportation Economics
  • 16 Master Transportation Economics

The ceremony was accompanied by music from the Big St. Benno Band of the St. Benno Gymnasium.

The ceremony ended with a get-together in the foyer of lecture hall POT 81, where the graduates were able to toast their achievements.

The 19th ball of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences on Saturday at the Löwensaal concluded the alumni events. With the ball, the Faculty's Alumni Association spätverkehr e.V. honors the graduates of the past year and invites alumni of the faculty, faculty members and partners to a festive evening.
