Cooperation
Last week faculty representatives were guests at the Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems IVI in Dresden and exchanged views on opportunities for cooperation.
Creating synergies in transportation research - this was the motto of the kick-off meeting between the Fraunhofer Institute for Transportation and Infrastructure Systems IVI and the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences last week. The Dean, Prof. Regine Gerike, as well as Prof. Pascal Kerschke (Chair of Big Data Analytics in Transportation), Prof. Meng Wang (Chair of Traffic Process Automation) and Prof. Karl Nachtigall (Chair of Traffic Flow Science) were guests at the Fraunhofer IVI based in Dresden. Here they were welcomed by Prof. Sanaz Mostaghim, Institute Director of the Fraunhofer IVI, and a multidisciplinary team of scientists.
The aim of the joint meeting was to develop initial ideas for closer cooperation in research and teaching in the future. The focus was on the exchange of expertise and the use of existing technical infrastructure at both institutions. The Fraunhofer IVI has modern research laboratories and test benches, including a technical center with a vehicle hall and adjoining test oval, which was visited during the meeting. Innovative technologies such as the ACD-U automated fast-charging system and solutions for teleoperated driving via 5G were presented.
The Fraunhofer IVI has been researching innovative solutions for mobility and infrastructure in Dresden for over 25 years. The range of topics includes traffic telematics, dispatching, logistics and vehicle, drive and sensor technology, as well as information and communication technologies, traffic planning and transport ecology. In addition to a wide range of specialist fields, the location close to the TU Dresden campus offers ideal conditions for closer cooperation.
