On May 12, the Bicycle Faculty Day TUD x DTU of the Chair of Transport Ecology took place in the Gerhart-Potthoff-Bau. The multifaceted program offered exciting impulses from the field of cycling research and the opportunity to network with international cycling researchers.

Together with transport researchers from DTU - Technical University of Denmark, the Chair of Transport Ecology at TU Dresden organized the first Bicycle Faculty Day at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences.

In a total of 12 presentations, participants were able to find out about current topics and future projects in cycling research. These included digital technologies such as GPS tracking, computer vision and machine learning for recording, analyzing and modeling bicycle traffic. The processing and use of mobility data for planning and improving cycling infrastructure was also discussed. Another focus was on the road safety of cyclists of different age groups. Finally, international trends and best practices for sustainable urban mobility were discussed. To this regard, the Danish guests also provided insights into Denmark's national cycling strategy.

In addition, the exchange format provided an opportunity to further intensify cooperation between the Transportation Systems Modelling and Transport Policy departments at TU Denmark and the Chair of Transport Ecology. To this end, current challenges and research gaps were specifically identified, which need to be closed in future joint research projects. Finally, there was time for further exchange and networking during the joint sightseeing in Dresden and the surrounding area as well as a concluding bicycle picnic.
