This week, the faculty welcomed a study group from the Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE) of the University of Birmingham (UK). During a visit to various laboratories at the faculty, the Master students of signaling and safety technology were able to find out about current research projects.
25 rail transport students from the University of Birmingham were guests at the “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport Sciences this week. As part of a study trip lasting several days, the students from the Birmingham Centre for Railway Research and Education (BCRRE) visited the Railway Operations Laboratory (EBL) of the Chair of Railway Operations, the System Laboratory and the Laboratory for Railway Power Supply of the Chair of Electric Railways and the Signalling Laboratory (SIL) of the Chair of Railway Signalling and Transport Safety Technology.
The students were impressed by the faculty's research infrastructure and also used the visit to talk to the Dresden transport researchers.
Having already visited Berlin Central Station, the rail technology company Talgo and the German Museum of Technology in Berlin, the study group is now planning a visit to the Dresdner Verkehrsbetriebe (DVB) this week on the topics of infrastructure and electromobility. Afterwards, the participants of the study trip will travel on to Copenhagen - by train, of course!
