The prize and honorary membership are awarded to leading technology experts worldwide. In 2022, a transport scientist from the TU Dresden was also among the award winners.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günther Prokop, holder of the Chair of Automobile Engineering at TU Dresden since 2010, was awarded the Technical Leadership Award of the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d'Ingénieurs des Techniques de l'Automobile (FISITA) in October 2022 and appointed honorary member of the "Academy of Technical Leadership". Günther Prokop said he felt great joy, pride but also humility at receiving this award and being accepted into this honourable circle. FISITA is an international umbrella organisation that has represented the global automotive sector since 1948 and has more than 210,000 members.

Commenting on the award, FISITA writes: "The FISITA Academy confers recognition and prestige on the world's leading technology experts. This unique recognition is introduced at a time when the traditional automotive industry is rapidly evolving and making significant technological advances. Technology and technologists are at the forefront of this development. Mobility technology is creating high demand for the technical skills needed to advance the connected, autonomous, smart, clean and safe mobility solutions of today and tomorrow."

Awarded at the FISITA World Mobility Summit 2022 in Paris

Günther Prokop was one of 13 leading scientists selected by the FISITA President and an international team of advisors in 2022. The award ceremony took place in mid-October 2022 at the FISITA World Mobility Summit 2022 in Paris. The theme of the summit was "Carbon Neutral Mobility - From Cradle to Grave".

Thematically, the summit was about 100% climate neutrality as well as circular economy in the automotive industry. At this level of scientific discussion, the whole thing was also a new experience for Günther Prokop. He was also offered cooperation with various working groups, in which potentially interested scientists from TU Dresden could also participate.

FISITA has been awarding this honorary membership since 2019. The FISITA Academy of Technical Leadership admits the recipient to an exclusive group of international technologists. Exclusivity is ensured by a strict examination and selection process. Each year, only about 20 people who have done significant scientific work for the international automotive and mobility systems engineering community are accepted as new members.

The honour was introduced at the time of a significant turning point for the traditional automotive industry. It marked a shift towards significant sustainable technological achievements that continues to this day. Mobility technologies provided in this way increase the demand for and expansion of technical prerequisites for connected, autonomous, intelligent, clean and safe mobility solutions for the future.

About FISITA

The Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d'Ingénieurs des Techniques de l'Automobile (FISITA) is a worldwide umbrella organisation for the pooling of expertise in automotive engineering and mobility. Its members include VDI, SAE, JSAE, CSAE, but also corporate members: GM, Renault, BMW, BYD, Bosch, etc.

It was founded in Paris in 1948 with the objectives of bringing together international engineers for joint cooperation, promoting the exchange of ideas and fostering technological developments in the automobile. It functions primarily as a global exchange forum for engineers, industry, governments, universities and environmental and standards organisations.

FISITA brings together approximately 2,100 automotive engineers. It also organises various events, including the biennial FISITA World Automotive Congress - one of the largest international networking meetings of engineers, scientists and managers in the automotive industry.
