A Lego train with a “shunting game” attracted young and old railroad enthusiasts to the exhibition stand of the railroad professorships of the Faculty of Transport Sciences “Friedrich List” at TU Dresden.

From September 24 to 27, 2024, the Faculty's railroad experts presented themselves at the largest international trade fair for railroad technology at Messe Berlin. Every two years, exhibitors in the field of track-bound vehicles for passenger and freight transport come together at the most important trade fair for rail transport technology. The trade fair focuses on topics such as vehicle components and parts, railroad infrastructure and tracks, as well as digital technologies for traffic management and passenger information systems.

The Chair of Electric Railways, the Chair of Railway Track Engineering, the Chair of Railway Signalling and Transport Safety Technology and the Chair of Railway  Operations as well as the Railway Operation Laboratory provided insights into current research projects and presented the degree programs offered by the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences. Numerous partners from research and industry came to talk to the participating employees at the stand and were able to experience a virtual tour of the railroad operations laboratory in Dresden using VR glasses, among other things. As part of the “Train your Brain” campaign for young talent, which the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences is implementing together with the German Railway Industry Association (VDB) and RailS., the Saxon railroad technology network, a school class from a Dresden community school also visited the faculty's presentation stand. The trade fair appearance also served as an exchange and networking platform for graduates of the faculty and received a great and positive response overall.
