From 26 to 27 November 2024, the 3rd GAPS (General Aviation Propulsion Systems) Conference took place in Dresden, organized by the Chair of Combustion Engineering and Drive Technology.

The 3rd edition of the GAPS conference once again brought together over 30 experts from the aviation industry to present current developments in the field of propulsion systems and discuss future challenges.

Under the motto “Innovation and Sustainability in Aviation”, this year's conference focused on the challenges and solutions in the field of low-emission propulsion technologies, the production of alternative fuels and the integration of propulsion systems into the overall aircraft system. The key focus was on the need to further develop existing propulsion systems with renewable fuels and to find innovative solutions to reduce CO₂ emissions. The conference not only promoted the exchange of ideas and experiences, but also led to new collaborations within the existing network.

Prof. Frank Atzler, head of the event, sums up:

“This year's GAPS conference impressively demonstrated how important interdisciplinary exchange is for the future of aviation. Together, we can drive forward the transformation to more environmentally friendly propulsion systems”.

The GAPS team would like to thank all sponsors, participants and speakers who contributed to the success of the 3rd GAPS and is already looking forward to the next conference on November 25 and 26, 2025 in Dresden.
