Kawasaki and the Chair of Combustion Engineering and Drive Technology at Dresden University of Technology are intensifying their cooperation to develop highly efficient drive systems.

On Tuesday, December 3, 2024, a team of engine developers from Kawasaki visited the Chair of Combustion Engineering and Drive Technology at the Technische Universität Dresden. The aim of the visit was to establish cooperation between Kawasaki and TU Dresden in the field of engine technology and to discuss innovative approaches to the development of highly efficient drive systems. The Kawasaki delegation, consisting of senior engineers and developers as well as the Business Development department, was particularly interested in current research projects in the field of sustainable energy and low-emission technologies. Various topics were discussed during the visit, including current developments in synthetic fuels, innovative drives in the powersports segment and the integration of hydrogen technologies in general aviation drive systems.

The discussions took place in an open and constructive atmosphere and led to concrete ideas for future joint projects. The excellently equipped infrastructure, such as the unique altitude chamber for investigating entire drive systems under real conditions at altitudes of up to around 10,000 m and temperatures as low as -60°C, provides an ideal environment for researchers from industry and science. Both sides expressed their desire to further intensify the exchange and initiate joint research initiatives. Kawasaki's visit underlines the role of the Chair of Combustion Engineering and Drive Technology as a leading institution in research and development in the field of drive technologies and its contribution to the energy transition.
