The "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences and its staff warmly congratulate Dr. Elena Queck on her appointment to the professorship of Transport Control and Infrastructure at the West Saxon University of Applied Sciences Zwickau. She has accepted the appointment as of 1 April 2021.

Elena Queck studied from 2005 to 2011 in Moscow/Russia at the then State University of Transport Engineering (today RUT - Russian University of Transport) with a focus on the construction of railway lines, railway facilities and magistrals. She graduated as the best student of her year and received a scholarship from the President of the Russian Federation in 2009, which brought her to Dresden. Here she wrote her diploma thesis at the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences of the TU Dresden, supervised by Prof. Jochen Trinckauf and her professor at the RUT, Prof.in Taisija Shepitko.

After graduating, she obtained a doctoral position at the TUD (research focus track construction site safety), Chair of Railway and Transport Safety Technology, and also worked there as a research assistant. Elena Queck's other research interests are mobility safety and traffic safety engineering. For her dissertation, she received the VDB InnoTrans 2018 Young Talent Award (VDB - German Railway Industry Association).

During her time at the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, Dr Queck established contacts with universities abroad. This resulted in various cooperations for the faculty, for example two current ERASMUS+ projects: Economics, Ecology and Infrastructure at High Speed Railway (EEIHSR) and Skill Training Alliance For the Future European Rail system (STAFFER).

The "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences thanks Elena Queck for her many years of commitment and regrets losing a dedicated scientist. On the other hand, the faculty also gains a new cooperation and networking partner.
