"Transitioning mobility into a digital, sustainable world" with keynotes by Prof. Regine Gerike and Prof. Hartmut Fricke from TUD's Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences department and Prof. Marc Timme from cfaed.

Digital and sustainable are two key characteristics that will shape the mobility of the future. How the path to this goal is shaping up, what is already being researched today and what developments are currently underway will be anylised and discussed at the next digital DRESDEN-concept (DDc) science talk "DDc lunch retreat" at lunchtime.

"Transitioning mobility into a digital, sustainable world" is the topic of the 7th "DDc luch retreat" on 24 August, 11:00 to 12:00.

The keynote speakers will be

The lunchtime talk will be moderated by Prof. Marc Wolfram (Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development - IOER).

The event will be held in English. All interested members of DDc institutions can participate in the one-hour event. Research group leaders and postdocs are welcome.

Abstract on the topic:
Mobility and transport are core prerequisites for successful societal development and economic health. At the same time, they cause major challenges in a world focussing increasingly on digital communication and sustainability. Transport research as a young and highly interdisciplinary field holds the potential for a fascinating variety of disruptive innovations both in research and practice. Today’s options of digital communication, large scale data-availability and computational analytics and modelling tools further strengthen this potential. They enable a deeper understanding of the dynamics of entire transportation systems rather than of individual vehicles, modes, infrastructure elements or human behaviours. The emerging field Automated and Networked Mobility takes this opportunity to question traditional assumptions and proposes novel mobility solutions that shall guarantee high accessibility at substantially lower societal costs by merging the physical and digital world most effectively.

What is "DDc lunch retreat"?

With the "DDc lunch retreat", DRESDEN-concept e. V. has established a new format in February 2021 (digital for the time being): Selected researchers from the DDc institutions are invited to present a forward-looking topic that is particularly supported by the scientific expertise available in Dresden and thus represents a unique selling point for the location.
