Prof. Pascal Kerschke answered questions from the career orientation magazine "Countdown", including how he found his career path, what a professor does, and why data is becoming increasingly important in transport.

Pascal Kerschke (34) has been head of the professorship for "Big Data Analytics in Transportation" at the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences at TU Dresden since March 2021. He gave a detailed interview to the magazine "Countdown" in the September issue about his path from the Bachelor's degree in "Data Analysis and Data Management" to the Master's degree in "Data Science" at TU Dortmund University, eight years as a research assistant, doctoral student and postdoc at the Chair of Statistics and Optimisation at the University of Münster to his appointment as professor at TU Dresden. 

In it, he provides insights into his everyday professional life as a professor, talks about his fascination with data sets and what excites him about research and teaching respectively. For future students, he also has a few tips on choosing a degree programme. And he explains why a degree in transport and traffic sciences can be just the thing for young talents in mathematics and computer science.
