At the beginning of July, it was announced that Regine Gerike had been appointed Divisional Director for Energy and Transport at German Aerospace Center (DLR). "As a result, we started intensive negotiations with Professor Gerike at the rectorate level and in close coordination with the faculty management in order to keep her with us at the University of Excellence TU Dresden," explains the rector of TU Dresden, Prof. Dr. Ursula M. Staudinger. "With her scientific profile and her outstanding commitment in numerous national and international committees, working groups and projects, Regine Gerike is very important for the sustainable further development of the field of transport and traffic sciences at TU Dresden," says the Rector.

Regine Gerike has been Head of the Chair of Integrated Transport Planning and Road Traffic at the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences at TU Dresden since 2015. In addition, she has been part of the faculty's management as Vice Dean Research since autumn 2018. "In this role, she has been instrumental in driving forward the strategic realignment of the faculty. As a scientist, she is a figurehead for the faculty," said the Dean of the "Friedrich List" Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Günther Prokop, at the beginning of July after Regine Gerike's appointment to DLR became known. He is all the happier now "to know that Regine Gerike will continue to be on board as a highly esteemed colleague in the faculty's professorate". Together, they want to address the challenges of future mobility. "This also applies to the design and development of the TUD's emerging field of 'Automated and Networked Mobility', in which Regine Gerike is already contributed many ideas and scientific approaches," says Günther Prokop.

Commenting on her stay at TU Dresden, the scientist says: "I would like to thank DLR for the trust they have placed in me. The decision was not easy for me. But TU Dresden's commitment and offer have convinced me to stay at TU Dresden. It opens up new perspectives for my professorship and also for the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences." According to Regine Gerike, these include a readjustment and sharpening of the professorship's research profile with a focus on the empirical analysis of mobility behaviour, agent-based traffic simulation, traffic safety and the strategic planning of traffic systems. She will also be involved in the internationalisation of teaching at the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences and the development of English-language courses.
