The “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences commemorates Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Klaus Fischer, who passed away on September 11, 2024 at the age of 91.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. habil. Klaus Fischer began his degree in safety and telecommunications engineering in 1952 at the “Friedrich List” Hochschule für Verkehrswesen (HfV) in Dresden and was one of the first graduates in 1956. Prof. Fischer then took up a position at the HfV as a scientific assistant at the Institute for Railway Safety Engineering. From 1958, he worked as chief technologist in the Safety and Telecommunications Administration of the Halle/Saale Railway Directorate. In 1963, Prof. Fischer returned to the Hochschule für Verkehrswesen for his doctorate, where he initially worked as a senior assistant and from 1965 as a lecturer at the Institute of Railway Safety Engineering. His habilitation followed in 1968. From 1971 to 1992, Prof. Fischer worked as a professor for traffic safety engineering at the HfV, then in 1992/93 as a lecturer for traffic safety and quality at the newly founded “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences at the TU Dresden.

With the death of Professor Dr.-Ing. habil. Klaus Fischer, we have lost a dedicated colleague, a respected teacher and scientist.
