Prof. Ulrike Stopka has been Professor of Communication Economics at the “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences since 1993. Now the faculty members are bidding her farewell into retirement.

Prof. Ulrike Stopka's professional career began in 1972 with her studies in communications economics at the former “Friedrich List” University of Transport (HfV) in Dresden. Prof. Stopka completed her degree in 1976 and then began working as a research assistant in the field of communications economics, in which she obtained her doctorate in 1981. This was followed by a position as a research assistant at the Central Office for Vocational Training at Deutsche Post in Berlin. This was followed in 1984 by a scheduled traineeship, a teaching qualification in 1986 and a doctorate B in 1987, which was converted into a habilitation in 1991. In 1987/1988, Prof. Stopka held positions in various offices in the postal and telecommunications sector in Berlin and Dresden before returning to the Hochschule für Verkehrswesen in 1988 as a university lecturer in econometrics of communications. This was followed by a teaching and research stay at the University of Bayreuth at the Chair of Finance and Organization in 1990/91. In 1992, Prof. Stopka was appointed Professor of Business Administration at the Dresden University of Applied Sciences, and in 1993 she was appointed University Professor of Communication Economics at the "Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences at TU Dresden. From 2020, she headed the professorship as a senior professor. Prof. Stopka was also spokesperson for the Alcatel-Lucent Foundation's University College for Communication and Mobility in 1996 and Dean of Studies for the Transport Economics course in 1997.

Ulrike Stopka is deputy chairwoman of the jury of the Vodafone Foundation for Research in Mobile Communications, member of the Münchner Kreis, supranational association for communications research, member of the Sächsisches Telekommunikationszentrum e.V. and member of the Bundesverband Glasfaseranschluss e.V..

The “Friedrich List” Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences and its staff wish Professor Ulrike Stopka all the best for the new phase of her life and good health for the coming years. May they hold interesting new topics and tasks in store, as well as rest and relaxation.
