Official project kick-off in Děčín: The Interreg project “Transport services of the Bohemian-Saxon Switzerland National Park” aims to improve public transport in the national park region. Last week, the project partners came together to define content guidelines for the joint project.

The Czech Technical University in Prague (Děčín branch), Dresden University of Technology, the Bohemian Saxon Switzerland National Park Administration and the regional transport company Sächsische Schweiz-Osterzgebirge are working on a joint research project to make transport in the national park more efficient, environmentally friendly and customer-friendly across borders.

The project aims to improve public transport links between the Bohemian and Saxon Switzerland National Parks while significantly reducing car traffic. In order to achieve this goal, cooperation between the stakeholders involved is to be intensified, the current traffic situation analyzed and the quality of public transport improved. In addition, concrete measures for traffic management and the organization of private transport are planned.

In order to sustainably improve the transport situation in the national park region, the project partners first identify potential areas in the field of public transport. In order to define short, medium and long-term goals, for example, potential for increasing demand, existing services and the quality of public transport in the region are evaluated. The researchers also collect data on fares and sales, communication and marketing as well as the existing infrastructure.

On the part of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences, the Chair of Railway Operations, the Chair of Transport Systems Information Technology and the Chair of Traffic Process Automation are involved in the project.
