With great joy, we welcomed our new students to the start of the 2025/26 winter semester.

During the festive welcome ceremony, yesterday nearly 250 first-year students in the Bachelor’s and Master’s programs were introduced to the fascinating world of mobility and transport research. For the first time, we were also pleased to welcome students of the new Bachelor’s program “Mobility and Transport Systems” to our faculty.

Dean Professor Regine Gerike warmly greeted the new students:

Today marks the beginning of an exciting journey for you. Your studies offer a unique opportunity to develop new skills, deepen your knowledge, and bring your own ideas to life. I encourage you to change your perspective – from that of a transport user to that of a transport researcher – and to critically question our transport system. We will accompany you on this path and equip you with the scientific tools to actively and responsibly shape the mobility of the future.

Prof. Regine Gerike

As part of the ceremony, the Teaching and Learning Agreement of the Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences was once again signed by Professor Jörn Schönberger, Dean of Studies Transportation Economics, together with two representatives of the student body. The agreement reaffirms the core values that guide teaching and research collaboration at our faculty.

The student council representatives also welcomed the new students and encouraged them to make use of the many introductory and advisory opportunities as well as the strong personal network within the faculty. The First-Year Weeks, organized by the Student Council FSR Verkehr, continue until October 26, featuring information sessions, lab tours, and networking events.

Thanks to the faculty’s unique interdisciplinary orientation and close cross-departmental cooperation, new students can look forward to a wide range of academic, research, and career opportunities. Whether in the development of environmentally friendly transport systems, the digitalization of mobility processes, or the design of safe and inclusive transport concepts – as future mobility experts, our students are in high demand to help shape the mobility of tomorrow.

We wish all students a successful and inspiring start to their academic journey!
